Daytona Beach, Florida – A long standing member of IASCA for many years, IASCA Taiwan and its agents have been through some difficult economic times in the last few years. However, with increased interest and support of the mobile electronics industry in the country, the IASCA affiliation has once again been able to return to event hosting.
IASCA Taiwan President Hai Ching Chang and the IASCA Taiwan executive hosted their first major event in more than five years, this past weekend in Taichung City, Taiwan. Taichung City is located in the middle of the country and is the fourth largest city in the country with a population of over 2 million. With approval from the Taiwanese Government IASCA Taiwan created an “open air” style car audio market, show, and competition in one of the city’s major parks. With close to 30 vehicles competing in IASCA Sound and Installation Quality competition and more than 40 vendors, the show was a huge success drawing thousands of spectators.
“I was very fortunate to have been invited to officiate at this event” said Moe Sabourin, Director of Worldwide Operations for IASCA “It’s clearly evident that IASCA competition and the passion for sound and installation quality is uppermost with the Taiwanese car audio community. A strong focus is placed on the installers and those with an IASCA Judges certification are considered the top installers in the country.”
The event also featured the “28 Hour Challenge”, which was an installer challenge type of event highlighting the top dealers in the country. There were ten teams total; each team was supplied with a Toyota Camry and the same equipment to build a top notch sound system in the vehicle, which would be judged by IASCA SQC and IQC rules at completion. Each team received an AutoNet head unit (DVD/CD double din player with 7 inch screen), ARC Audio and Mosconi amplifiers and Morel component speakers; special thanks to these manufacturers for supporting the event. Teams were given 28 hours to build their systems.
“Every day, our membership grows” said IASCA Taiwan President, Hai Ching Chang “Now that IASCA has been reintroduced to Taiwan, there is renewed interest in competition and car audio. Retail Dealers are seeing increased sales by following the IASCA mission; manufacturers and distributors are also seeing the value and supporting our mission. We have begun to plan a full schedule of events for the balance of this year and 2014, and we are very confident that the car audio culture in Taiwan will grow to new heights.”
